Artist Statement

See a field of flowers. From a distance, note the patterns of gorgeous colors, stands of posed stems and blooms in blocks of primary colors – greens, blues, yellows, and reds. Watch how they move in the soft breeze, vibrating invisibly with the energy of their scent. Look past the whole, the assembly in a quivering mass, and come closer to notice the individual flower. The variety does not matter, it is the seduction of the form that draws you in. See the minuteness of detail, the intimate array of pistils and stamens, the delicate curve of the outer petals. Take in the entrancing movement of the flower in its dynamic stillness. This is the organic process of seeing, of exploring the flower for what it is, a single being in a field of blooms. Go beyond looking, and give in to the process of observing closely, minutely the beingness of this flower, its self. Now step back, each image is a chance to observe the flower more closely, more sensitively – the ephemeral beauty of the unseen in plain sight.
